I was responsible for the Migration Add-Ons’ development: a baby carrier + sleeping bag, a pocket bag.
ADD-ON 1: 6MA01
Inspired by a paper bread bag, the design is made out of one pattern piece and has asymmetrical darts creating an asymmetrical voluminous look. Final collection bases (Overalls) were produced by an Amsterdam based production company, A-Rola. Final add-ons were produced in-house by designers who were responsible for their development.
Technical drawings and product notes were done by me.

A migration add-on inspired by the idea of carrying your loved ones, has a multifunctional purpose. It combines a baby carrier and a sleeping bag in one garment. STYLING ACCESSORIES DEVELOPMENT
Naomi Opheij - Stylist, Casting Director and Accessories Designer (@naomiopheij) was responsible for the styling concept development for each look. I sourced the materials which would work best to make melting shoe covers for Droughts and anti-slip soles for Migration. With Naomi’s cooperation I executed both shoe ideas.
Droughts shoes were made using the Vacuum Former machine. The classic pair of sneakers Nike Air Force 1 was utilized as a mold and a foam-like material was used in making covers. The lighter colour shade was bought at the school’s making lab, the darker grey foam was found at the local art store.
Migration anti-slip soles patterns were developed by Dojanicia Juan Pedro - Product Brander, VR and Digital Presentation Developer (@dojanicia). She also developed and laser cut notions for the elastic reusing Plexiglas from company’s deadstock. Soles’ grey base was sourced at a local art store. The outside of soles is covered with a black banner tape reused from the Branding Department, in-house event leftovers. Elastic was reused from company’s deadstock.
For personal evaluations, each of the company Gen26 designers was asked to develop their own collections (1 look from the existing collection + 6 personalized ones) based on the collective and their personal research, aesthetic and vision (illustrations and technical drawings only).
Developing 3 Iconic Styles & their add-ons with the rest of the design team, I wanted to inspire industry collecting content outside of the fashion industry with a focus on functionality. By combining global warming with overconsumption in the supermarket & plastic packaging, I asked myself: what are essentials in those scenarios? I came up with a conclusion to make a multifunctional garment translating the supermarket idea through food shapes: a baby carrier + a sleeping bag that has a shape of a lime; a pocket bag was inspired by a paper bread bag.
My personal research was thoroughly focused on the Migration scenario in our collection, since I was responsible for the Migration add-ons’ development. So, for my personal vision and for the 6 other outfits, I had decided to continue developing the Migration scenario further. I broke down the migration line-up under three categories. Following the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, my looks responded to the psychological & belonging needs of humanity: family, carrying food (doing groceries in the future), sleep.
